About Aangik

Aangik is a somatic education and integrative wellness studio offering embodied approaches to stress regulation, emotional resilience, and physical health. The work blends Western medical frameworks with culturally grounded movement and reflection practices, creating accessible, non-clinical spaces for self-learning and integration.

In addition to integrative health coaching and somatic education, Aangik also offers mentorship and advising for individuals navigating complex educational and professional paths, particularly in medicine.

Our Founder

Shiv Nadkarni, M.D. is a physician, movement practitioner, and educator working at the intersection of medicine, anthropology, and embodied practice. With training in neuroscience, medicine, and Indian classical dance, his work integrates lifestyle medicine (focusing on nutrition, movement, and sleep), somatic education, and storytelling. He has collaborated with academic institutions, arts organizations, and community spaces to design programs that support nervous system regulation and emotional well-being.

Dr. Nadkarni completed his B.A. in Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, his M.A. in Dance Anthropology at the University of Roehampton using a U.S.-U.K. Fulbright Award, and his M.D. at the Univeristy of California-Los Angeles (UCLA).

Is this therapy or medical treatment?

No. Aangik offerings are not psychotherapy or medical treatment. The work is experiential, integrative, and educational and is focused on embodied practices, lifestyle medicine principles, and stress regulation. Participants are encouraged to continue any medical or mental health care they’re already receiving.

Do I need prior experience with meditation, movement, or somatic practices?
